Design Within Reach Trade Program: Requirements & How to Apply (2026)
Quick answer: The Design Within Reach trade program is free for credentialed design professionals and includes trade pricing every day across the full assortment, deeper trade-only discounts during promotions, and access to 150+ premium brands (DWR is part of MillerKnoll, so that includes Herman Miller and Knoll). Enrollment is a short online form; a DWR account executive follows up to activate your account. DWR doesn't publish the exact discount percentage.
What the program includes
- Trade pricing every day on the full assortment, including special orders — not a promo-window discount
- Deeper trade-only discounts during promotions and special offers (the inverse of CB2, where sales exclude trade pricing)
- Access to 150+ premium brands through one account — the MillerKnoll family means authentic Eames, Aeron, Saarinen, and Knoll classics at trade terms
- A dedicated Design Specialist for space planning, 3D renderings, and sourcing help
- 24/7 online ordering with your trade login
- Contract-grade options for commercial projects
- Invitations to curated VIP events
For authenticated modern classics — the pieces clients ask for by name — DWR's program is one of the highest-leverage trade accounts a designer can hold.
Who qualifies
DWR's language is "credentialed design professional": interior designers, architects, builders, developers, stagers, and set designers. The enrollment form asks for your company details, business focus, and your ASID membership number if you have one — association credentials help but aren't stated as mandatory.
What you'll need
The public enrollment form is short: contact information, company information, business focus category, and optional ASID membership. Unlike CB2, DWR doesn't publish a specific document checklist — but "credentialed" is doing real work in their copy. Expect the account executive who follows up to verify a practicing design business — a real business footprint and a company website that presents you as a trade professional — before activating trade pricing.
And enrollment is the easy part. Operating a DWR trade account directly means the full stack: set up a business — form an LLC (state filing, fees, annual reports) or work as a sole proprietor with every client order on your personal liability — and get an EIN. Register for sales tax in every state you'll charge it: home state first for the resale certificate, then each state you deliver to, since roughly a quarter of states (California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington among them) don't accept out-of-state certificates. Keep your exemption certificate on file with DWR for each state you buy into. Collect sales tax on your marked-up client invoices and remit it on ongoing returns in every registered state — buying tax-exempt makes you the seller. And place and track every order through DWR's trade login, then repeat the cycle for every other program you hold. (Rules vary by state — worth an hour with an accountant who knows designer sales tax.)
On Suede, procurement runs through us: we purchase from DWR under our own access and tax registrations, place and track the orders, invoice your client, collect and remit the sales tax, and pay out your earnings. You pick the products and find clients, Suede manages the rest. Join the waitlist here.
How to apply
- Go to dwr.com/trade and complete the enrollment form.
- Include your ASID membership number if applicable.
- An account executive contacts you to verify your business and activate the account — DWR doesn't publish a timeline, but this is a human step, not an instant approval.
- Once active, trade pricing applies automatically when you're signed in, online or in-studio, and you're assigned Design Specialist support.

The fine print worth knowing
- DWR doesn't publish its trade discount percentage; your account executive confirms terms.
- Trade pricing applies to special orders too — meaningful for made-to-order upholstery lead times and pricing.
- The trade-only promotional discounts are where the economics get interesting; watch the trade newsletter once you're in.
DWR is one of many trade programs a working designer ends up managing — each with its own enrollment, verification call, login, and pricing rules. On Suede, procurement across all of them runs through us, on your behalf — along with the invoicing, the sales tax, and the payments. Join the waitlist here.
